The Facebook Timeline has been received with mixed feelings so far, with some worried about the change and others loving how their pages look.
Facebook on Wednesday the 29th of February announced it is going to extend the Timeline to fan and business pages. Admins will have 30 days to preview their page in timeline and the new layout will come out officially on March 30. Admins can, however, publish the timeline on their page sooner, if they want.
Has anyone started using it yet?
Along with the new page layout, admins will get several new features, including messaging features. Now, Facebook users will be able to contact a brand privately, and brand admins will be able to respond to those messages. Admins will also be able to turn the messaging function on or off.
Admins of the page will also get a new dashboard, where they can keep track of the activity on their page, respond to people who have commented on their page, and view page analytics. The admin panel will display any new likes, notifications, post performance statistics, and messages that have occurred.
Unfortunately the new layout will do away with the “landing tabs” that solicit users to like their page. Now, visitors to a page will always see the timeline view by default and admins will no longer be able to set a specific default landing tab.
